The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas is a British military band based at Shorncliffe and supports the British Army and the Brigade of Gurkhas in ceremonial settings, pass off parades and concerts. Performing for us inside the grounds of Weston Park this September, we are thrilled to welcome the remarkable army musicians to the showground.
Did you know? The Gurkhas are soldiers from Nepal who are recruited into the British Army and have been for the last 200 years.
Today’s army musicians are recruited into the Band after their basic military training. Initial musical instruction then commences, first under the supervision of the Director of Music then after approximately four years, at the Royal Military School of Music.
